TRES Engages Families Through LEGO Learning at George Peck Public School’s Fun Fair

Toronto Region Educational Services attended George Peck Public School’s LEGO Fun Fair with team members Joanna, Jennalyn, Nanziba, and Helen. Together, they welcomed children to interactive LEGO activities, spoke with parents about TRES programs, and created a fun and supportive environment for families.

Joanna enjoyed seeing the different creations students built, including one particularly impressive LEGO car model. The team also received 16 parent sign-ups, with every parent they approached willing to learn more. Joanna highlighted the dedication of the volunteer supporting the booth, who did an excellent job connecting with students and encouraging them to participate. She shared that “it was so great to see the smiles on the students’ faces” as they explored the activities and won prizes.

Jennalyn appreciated seeing children remain engaged while also having opportunities to speak with parents. She described the LEGO Fun Fair as “a great experience” and said it was rewarding to connect with families while working alongside a supportive team.

Nanziba led the LEGO Robotics station, where some children stayed for 20 to 30 minutes while building with LEGO and experimenting with different block-based codes on the iPad. She enjoyed helping participants build and program robots and watching their creativity develop. Nanziba described the experience as “both enjoyable and rewarding.”

Helen highlighted the strong participation from children and the smooth operation of the event. She shared that the Fun Fair was “a great experience” and enjoyed working with the team to create a welcoming environment where children could explore LEGO activities.

Overall, the Fun Fair gave TRES a valuable opportunity to connect with families, showcase its educational programs, and encourage creativity through hands-on LEGO learning. The strong participation, parent interest, and teamwork helped make the event a meaningful experience for everyone involved.
